The Pressure is On

A while back, JD Walt asked me to check out the blog page for Asbury Seminary, which I did...I shot him back an e-mail asking when my blog was going to be featured on the site...mostly I was kidding because I read some of the stuff that was posted there and I knew that mine certainly did not belong...I mean, they talk about theology and important stuff...mostly I talk about sports and movies and junk...well, I glanced at their new updated site and discovered that my blog has been listed...the pressure is now officially on...I need to come up with some deep thoughts about preaching in a postmodern culture or some pithy commentary on the writings of Augustine or a thesis on expressing hospitality in a generation of relativity...or maybe I'll just keep being me and keep writing about Napoleon Dynamite and about how excited I am that the Browns will name a new coach next week...yeah, I like that option...

Hi Mike! For starters, talk about the horrible error conservative Christians make when they support the nation of Israel. They believe they are following Biblical paths when in fact they are supporting Satan incarnate.

Irenaeus gave Napolean Dynamite five stars. I would have to agree because of the deep eschatological propensities espoused therein. Um, I have no idea what that means, but I laughed so hard that I almost threw up. He he he.

Matt, your comment reminds me of a t-shirt that the drama department at the seminary once had (I have one somewhere). The back read:
-We are the incarnation of dramatic exegesis-
HUH?!?

Fitz,
You do not need to create a theological treatise... the reason the Blog Parish is so theological is because it's a sounding board for our common experience. Right now our common experience is... well theology.

Anyway, (Warning: Shameless attempt to prove I think about something other than theology.) speaking of pop culture. Do you ever watch VH1? Isn't it interesting that lately it's become this chronicle and commentary about pop culture? It's like the history of a generation told through fads. Do you miss Pop-Up Videos like I do? And by the way... what ever happened to Daria on MTV? Here's another thing... why must MTV play it's reality shows over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

Michael-
I don't watch VH-1 because we don't so much have cable / satellite TV. It makes me sad to have two channel choices. I would watch it, though. I love the 'I love the __s' shows. They bring back such fond - and not so fonds - memories. And re: MTV, I remember when they used to play music videos, hence the M in the MTV. If I had cable TV, I would not have much of a use for MTV now. Now ESPN and TLC, I'm all about that...

not much use for mtv? fitz, i'm disappointed in you. really. "seven strangers, picked to live in a loft, have their lives taped, and find out what happens when people stop being polite, and start getting real. the real world _______" but after 15 years of round-the-clock reruns, its an exhausted idea, i'm afraid. i guess they've beaten it to death. and tlc? well, i must admit that i'm a dork...and i love it. and by the way--sad news on tlc. did you hear that paige is getting the boot from trading spaces? they're going for a new host-less format. boo. hiss. shameful, i tell you.
